If I remember correctly, doesn’t the author end the series early due to piracy rather than because the publisher decided to discontinue it or because the series has reached its natural conclusion? Because as far as I can remember, the story is far from actually coming to an end or reaching a conclusion that actually makes sense as the end of the story. But the author ends it on a personal whim because of pirates.

No… The official term the author used to keep mentioning was that he quit the series because he was really burned out. Well the series was about 10 years old not including the web novel

No, that (and the burnout addressed in the same tweet) was that he was cynical in a tweet saying he was going to cut a volume in response to someone linking him to a reddit post that included the English Fan translation of Japanese BD Exclusive included mini chapters. But before that even happened, he had already said that the main story had more or less about 20 volumes in his head (later added up to 18) and that he might have 50 volumes of material if people really just want him to keep writing it.

So he said in that tweet that the total was down to 17 “for now.” Now we’re back to 18 (possibly 20, considering he keeps breaking arcs into two volumes because they’re too big).

Hell, I remember he said he could write 30 or 40 volumes, but he must be really burned out to roll one's eyes

You repeated that last time.

As if that were new.

I’m willing to bet when the next volume comes say it will end 1 volume we already have it.

Maybe I’m just being mean, but I find it kind of bizarre that he’s upset about an English fan translation of the chapter that English speakers would never get. It would be one thing if it were also translated exclusively for people who bought the Season 3 English Blu-ray, but the additional story was kept locked away from pretty much anyone outside of Japan or those who could read Japanese.

Personally I don’t disagree either, if this makes him that angry take the matter to the producers committee and ask them to include a translation for overseas BD volumes.

No need to fret over money you would never have gotten from them as it is specific additional material that few of its fans outside of Japan even get to read.

Either that, or you do an extra volume with extra stories published over the years like Haruhi did.
