Koyoharu Gotouges Demon Hunter Quickly becoming one of the most popular new generation shonen titles, thanks in part to its extensive cast of characters. The series is full of diverse people with specific aesthetics and standout moments that made viewers fall in love with them. From complex demons to adorable heroes, there’s no shortage of unique characters for fans to fall head over heels in love with.
However, some of these individuals are cooler than others. Some characters have flashy fighting techniques and unique breathing styles, while others have flashy fashions and endearing personalities that delight audiences every time they appear on screen.
This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga.
10 Obanai is the serpent Hashira
Obanai is the serpent Hashira. He has a cool fashion sense, opts for solid colors and wears his pet snake around his neck like an accessory. He strictly follows the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps and has high expectations of his fellow members Hashira.
Despite his merciless personality, Obanai has a gentle side that only two people have seen. He loves Mitsuri and deeply respects Kagaya. He also has a unique fighting style and invented snake breathing, which allows him to manipulate his Nichirin Blade like a snake.
9 Tanjiro is compassionate and can sympathize with malevolent demons
One of the first things people realize about Tanjiro is that he carries himself like he’s older than he actually is. One of the people he saved pointed out that his hands are calloused and bruised, so it’s not a little boy’s hands.
Tanjiro is a compassionate soul who, despite battling malevolent demons, still tries to sympathize with them. He holds her hands in her final moments and even sheds a few tears by her side. Tanjiro proves that being kind is always trendy.
8th Muichiro became a Hashira after two months of training
Becoming a Hashira isn’t easy for even the most skilled of Slayers, but Muichiro became a Mist Hashira after just two months of training. At just 14 years old, Muichiro single-handedly defeated Gyokko, the top five in Muzan’s Twelve Kizuki. Other high-level demons have acknowledged his abilities while expressing disbelief that he is so young.
A certain omnipresent anger is the driving force behind all his actions. Though Muichiro seems like a total idiot who doesn’t care, there’s a lot of turmoil simmering beneath the surface. His anger is the source of his willpower.
7 Inosuke is like a boar in a china shop
Inosuke is the embodiment of a bull in a china shop, only he was raised by boars. He’s ruthless, loud-mouthed, and untameable, but those are some of his best personality traits. Inosuke’s battle IQ is unmatched by most cast members, and growing up in the wild gave him a primal intuition most humans will never match.
He is always ready for the next challenge and tries to inspire others to compete. Inosuke is still learning to adjust to other people, but he’s slowly getting the hang of it. Since Inosuke can’t read or write, one of the show’s funniest running gags is that he can only correctly type a person’s name every eight tries. It leads to hilarious name fights, like when he calls Tanjiro “Monchiro” or Zenitsu “Monitsu”.
6 Lady Tamayo is an expert in demonic medicines
Tamayo is one of the most impactful supporting characters in the series. Without their understanding of demonic medicine, Tanjiro and the gang would have been dead many times over. She helped discover the first steps to healing Nezuko and defeating Muzan.
She is not malicious like other demons and refuses to harm humans for the sake of survival. Also, her Blood Demon Art left viewers mesmerized after activating her Scent of Illusory Blood, Visual Dream to create a flowery hallucination after Tanjiro’s first encounter with Muzan.
5 Akaza killed a fan-favorite character, but his martial arts skills are second to none
Akaza’s performance ended up stealing the show Mugen train. Fans thought the fight was over after the train crashed and Enmu died, but Akaza’s glowing eyes emerged from the darkness and spelled out “Upper-Rank Three.”
He may have killed a fan-favorite character by the end of the film, but manga readers know that Akaza’s backstory makes him the most tragic villain in the series. Martial arts are the foundation of his Blood Demon Art and his skills are second to none. He creates shock waves on impact and can control them from any distance and with any part of his body.
4 Giyu is a man of few words, but his aloofness captivated many fans
Giyu proves that someone in a room doesn’t always have to be the flashiest or the loudest to grab the viewer’s attention. He’s a man of few words, but fans have been mesmerized by his reserve and stoicism. Although he’s a bit of a stickler for the rules, he can occasionally make some exceptions.
For example, he kept Nezuko alive, helped Tanjiro get into the Corps, and kept her secret for as long as possible. As a Water Hashira, Giyu’s fighting prowess is unmatched by anyone of his generation. His skills were even praised by Akaza, who defeated a few of Giyu’s predecessors.
3 Shinobu kills demons with a smile
Shinobu is the insect Hashira. She is adept at drugs and uses them to her advantage in combat. She has a unique blade that fills her with poison. Instead of decapitating demons, she injects them with a wisteria substance that subjects them to a slow, agonizing death. She injects them with a smile while gently teasing them about their evil disposition.
In front of her peers, Shinobu seems fun-loving and cheerful. She constantly teases Giyu and tries to get under his skin. However, her attitude towards demons suggests that there is more going on beneath the surface. Tanjiro was the first to realize that Shinobu is in a constant state of anger due to demons killing her sister.
2 Tengen Uzui is the eye-catching sound Hashira
Tengen Uzui made quite the debut during the Entertainment District arc. The first thing he wants everyone to know about him is that he is the flashiest guy they will ever meet. He always wears shiny gems, an abundance of jewelry, and has a stylish take on a traditional demon slayer uniform. He also has three wives. Some might call him arrogant, but his confidence is justified.
As Sound Hashira, Tengen is one of the strongest characters in the entire series. Raised in a shinobi family, he was one of the few survivors of the brutal training they endured. He has impeccable hearing, which gives him an advantage over all his enemies, and he moves faster than the speed of sound.
1 Everyone loves Rengoku
Rengoku is one of the most popular members of the Demon Slayer Corps. He was highly respected by low-level Hunters and Hashirah alike, and his loss left a significant void in the organization that would be difficult to fill. He stole the show during the Mugen Zug arc, displaying his most powerful techniques in a blazing display of strength.
Rengoku was very proud of his role as Flame Hashira and was excited to get up for work every day. He had a heart of gold and a solid moral compass to guide him through every situation. He was always trying to lift the spirits of everyone around him and give them the confidence they needed to move forward.
