Will there be another season of the main anime?

As of August 2022, there was no indication that MAPPA has planned a third season of the main anime series Kakegurui.

Unfortunately, sales for the manga series decidedly flopped after the anime series premiered in 2017, which is the main reason for anime being shelved.

That being said, the series is still incredibly popular with fans around the world, scoring 7.2/10 on IMDB, 7.26/10 (Season 1) and 7.20/10 (Season 2) on MyAnimeList.

Another reason the anime never got a third season was the lack of source material needed to produce a full TV episode, as MAPPA had to animate filler episodes in Kakegurui XX as it was.

The good news is that there should be enough source material available by June 15thth The manga volume is slated for release in late September 2022 – a milestone widely touted as necessary to provide enough source material for Season 3.

The problem as to when Kakegurui Season 3 could be produced is MAPPA itself, which has become one of the most popular and revamped studios in the business.

In all likelihood, we’ll see a third anime season of Kakegurui at some point, but it could take some time considering both the source material and MAPPA’s 2022/23 schedule.
